Musical Director: Margaret Corlett

Margaret graduated from London University with a joint Honours Degree in Music and German and holds diplomas in piano performance (LTCL and ALCM).  After four years in Salzburg, she trained as a teacher in Leeds, also working as a freelance pianist and accompanist, especially with solo singers and instrumentalists as well as Leeds Girls’ choir, Fulneck Choir, and Leeds Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Two years in Holland followed, where she expanded her linguistic abilities, teaching piano and flute in English, German and Dutch, directing a multi-national choir and working with a Dutch clarinettist.

She has now become established as an accompanist, teacher and choral director in the Chester area and has directed Vale Royal Singers since 2005 and Kelsborrow Choir as both accompanist and director.  She has performed with many soloists and choirs, and works for Music in Hospitals, as well as teaching piano from beginners to diploma level. She has organised and directed choral workshops for adults and children.

Until recently, she was Head of Music at Queen’s Lower School, where she directed the award-winning Queen’s Young Voices and is involved with A-level accompanying at Sir John Deane’s College.
